چکیده

Abstract. This paper reports the development of reversed magnetic shear (RS) plasmas with a large bootstrap current fraction (fBS) towards reactor relevant regime, especially lower q95 regime. By utilizing large volume configuration close to the conductive wall for wall stabilization, the beta limit of RS plasmas is significantly improved. As a result, high confinement RS plasmas with large fBS exceeding no-wall beta limit are obtained in reactor relevant regime, where βN~2.7, βp~2.3 is achieved with reversed q profile with qmin~2.4, and then HH98y2~1.7, ne/nGW~0.87 and fBS~90% are also obtained at q95~5.27.

Development of Advanced Operation Scenarios in Weak Magnetic-Shear Regime on JT-60U

Fully non-inductive discharge having relaxed current profile and high bootstrap current fraction fBS=0.5 has been realized in the highp ELMy H-mode discharge with weak magnetic-shear satisfying q95=5.8, qmin=2.1, and q(0)=2.4, where qmin and q(0) are the safety factor q at the minimum and the plasma center, respectively. The rest of the plasma current is externally driven by neutral beams (NBs)...

Effects of low central fuelling on density and ion temperature profiles in reversed shear plasmas on JT-60U

Effects of low central fuelling on density and ion temperature profiles have been investigated using negative ion based neutral beam injection and electron cyclotron heating (ECH) in reversed shear plasmas on JT-60U. Strong internal transport barrier (ITB) was maintained in density and ion temperature profiles, when central fuelling was decreased by switching positive ion based neutral beam inj...

Formation of Internal Transport Barriers and Lts Lmpact on the Jt-60u Plasmas Ide Shunsuke+ and the Jt-60 Team

Formation of internal transport barriers (ITBs) in a plasma is a key to access to improved confinement. In JT-60U, there are two types of plasmas which are accompanied with ITB. One is a high Bo plasma and the other one is a reversed magnetic shear (RS) plasma. In RS plasmas, interesting features can be seen in spatial profiles of plasma parameters. For example, the location of the ITB can be s...

Dynamics of ion internal transport barrier in LHD heliotron and JT-60U tokamak plasmas

Dynamics of ion internal transport barrier (ITB) formation and impurity transport both in the Large Helical Device (LHD) heliotron and JT-60U tokamak are described. Significant differences between heliotron and tokamak plasmas are observed. The location of the ITB moves outward during the ITB formation regardless of the sign of magnetic shear in JT-60U and the ITB becomes more localized in the ...

Investigations of impurity seeding and radiation control for long-pulse and high-density H-mode plasmas in JT-60U

Reduction of heat loading appropriate for the plasma facing components (PFCs) such as the divertor and the first wall is crucial for a fusion reactor. Impurity gas seeding is one of techniques to decrease peak heat flux to the divertor both in steady-state and transient phases. Power handling by large radiation power loss has been studied in the ELMy H-mode plasmas on JT-60U with argon (Ar) gas...
